SPR Presents Fred Newman in a One-Mouth Show
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a dripping faucet!
Fred Newman is best known to the KPBX audience as Garrison Keillor’s go-to man for every sound effect humanly possible. You won’t believe your ears as he tells funny stories peppered with amazing sounds, answers questions, and even teaches how to make your own amazing mouth sounds. Be part of the fun on Wednesday, June 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bing Crosby Theater -- 901 West Sprague Avenue, Downtown Spokane.
Maybe you recognize his voice as Skeeter, Mr. Dink, Porkchop and Ned on Nickelodeon/ Disney's Doug. Or you might remember him as co-host of the All New Mickey Mouse Club, which launched the careers of now well-known actors like Brittany Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Ryan Gosling. He can currently be seen on PBS’s reading series Between the Lions, for which he also writes and provides animated voices. Newman can also be seen as the conductor of Lomax, the Hound of Music on PBS. Newman has been the recipient of three Daytime Emmys and a CableACE award. Kids of all ages have heard Fred's voice as incredibly funky creatures, ranging from outer-space aliens to Gremlins to the Sasquatch in Harry and the Hendersons.
Newman is the author of MouthSounds, a book originally published in 1980 and updated in 2004 to include a DVD.
