The newest lawmakers in Washington state have been officially sworn in, including three from the Spokane area.
Monday, Andy Billig transitioned from his two years as a state representative into his new role as a state senator. Billig, a democrat from the 3rd legislative district, sits on committees for Early Learning, Energy Environment and Telecommunications, Rules, and Transportation.
Senator Billig is part of the now democratic minority in the senate.

Also in the 3rd district, Marcus Riccelli is just beginning his first term as a representative.  Riccelli has previously worked for Senator Lisa Brown’s team and for U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell.  He serves on the Capital Budget Committee, and the Health Care and Wellness, Higher Education, and Transportation committees.

Riccelli is part of the democratic majority in the house.

Another new face in the legislature is Jeff Holy, a republican representative from district six.  Holy has a background in military and law enforcement.

He will serve on committees for Government Accountability and Oversight, Labor and Workforce Development, Public Safety, and Rules.
