There were nine races total decided in the primary election, with the purpose of narrowing down the candidate pool to two. In the general election, dozens of races will be decided.

Voter Turnout
Statewide voter turnout for the primary is just over 20%, with Spokane a bit better at a 22% turnout.

In highly-local elections, the turnout surprised county auditor Vicky Dalton. The town of Latah had the best turnout in the county, with more than 57%. That represents 72 out of 125 voters. Dalton was underwhelmed by the turnout in Rockford which has faced recent financial turbulence. The turnout there was about 30%. The 88 votes that came in favored Rockford council candidates Robert Tollefson Chuck Collison to the November ballot. In Latah, voters picked council candidates Teresa Galvin and Larry La Bolle.

Dalton says she would have liked to see at least a 30% countywide turnout.
