Three in Spokane Arrested For Murder In Death of Man Found in Idaho

By Paige Browning

Spokane Police have arrested three people for murder in connection with the death of a man who went missing a year ago. The victim, 32-year-old Mark Broadwater, went missing last June. His body was found across state lines in Kootenai County, Idaho earlier this month. The case has been sealed since then to protect the investigation.

The suspects are Jeffery B. Sankey, Judy L. Diamond, and Peter E. O'Brien. Police Lieutenant Mark Griffiths say the crime appears to be part of a drug-related robbery. He says detectives first determined O’Brien may have had something to do with it, and got more information in an interview with him.

Griffiths: “He was arrested on an unrelated warrant. During that arrest he was interviewed, and that investigation led us to his body in Idaho, and further investigation led us to the other two people involved.”

Lieutenant Griffiths says the three murder suspects were acquaintances of Broadwater. Thursday in District Court bail was set at two-million dollars for each of them.
