If you’re a bus rider in Spokane, new signs will give you better guidance. If you’re not a bus rider, the Spokane Transit Authority hopes you might consider it once routes are easier to understand.

This week the bus system, STA, will have redesigned bus stop signs put in throughout its routes. The design will identify all routes that serve the stop, the direction of travel, and the bus stop ID number. That last part is part of technology STA is developing in which real time bus info will be available.

STA has not redesigned their stop signs for more than 30 years. Funding for the 1,600 new signs comes from a federal transit improvement grant.

STA has had an uptick in ridership in recent years.
