NPR's Justice Talking
KSFC Saturdays at 1 p.m., Wendesdays at 9 p.m.
Justice Talking is
a compelling program that puts the legal and ethical issues of the day
into focus. Key cases and controversies before the nation's courts get
an in-depth look, tackling the differing values that lie at the heart
of this democracy showing the Constitution as a living document.
Host Margot Adler fields questions from the audience and manages the discussion
between the distinguished guests.
In partnership with NPR, NYTimes.com hosts Justice
Learning, a civics education Web site for high school students
and teachers based on Justice Talking.
The Web site uses content from Justice Talking and related lesson
plans and articles from The New York Times Learning Network, a
free service for teachers, parents and students in grades 3-12. Copies
of a Justice Talking Listening and Learning Guide for teachers
are available to school-board licensees.
Justice Learning is designed around eight distinct civics issues that
are updated twice a year. Current issues include affirmative action, civil
liberties, death penalty, gun control, juvenile justice and Web censorship.
