Spokane music teacher Shirley Grossman would encourage you to teach them first how to sing. The rest, she says, will follow. In her South Hill studio, Shirley Grossman teaches a technique called Kindermusik (kin’-der-moo-zeek’), which stresses skills like listening and singing. Grossman believes children who learn basic music concepts early have an advantage in learning when they’re in school.
