The annually-anticipated KPBX Recordings & Videos Sale has moved to The Lincoln Center – an historic venue for an historic event. President’s Day Weekend, February 16 and 17, audiophiles and film buffs will be treated to a new setting where they can peruse and sort through thousands of gently-used LPs, CDs, 45s, DVDs, and VHS movies. A separate balcony area will set up with classic and like-new music equipment, up for bid by silent auction each day. Hard core collectors and curiosity seekers will get in line before the doors open to snap up recordings by their favorite musicians, musical genres, or hard-to-find collector’s items. Sale hours are from 9am to 5pm Saturday, and 11am to 5pm on Sunday. Admission, parking, and refreshments are free and the Lincoln Center is handicap accessible.
Inside is a music collector’s dream shopping spree. From Beethoven to the Beatles, the Moody Blues to Motown favorites, you’ll find albums and CDs from a broad cross-section of musical styles, including classical, rock, R&B, soul, reggae, folk, country, world, kids, comedy, soundtracks, jazz, and more. Additional items for sale include 45s, CDs, cassette tapes, DVDs, books on tape, and reasonably-priced stereo equipment, including turntables, tuners, speakers, and cabinets. Shoppers will find great bargains throughout the weekend and early birds will get the worm (or the hottest collectables in this case!).
Patrick Klausen, SPR’s production director, will spin tunes throughout the sale, showcasing the wide variety of merchandise and taking requests from shoppers. From 1-3pm, live music will fill the auditorium with performances from singer/songwriter/guitarist Maxie Ray Mills on Saturday, and the highly-acclaimed jazz combo, The Brian Flick Trio on Sunday.
The KPBX Recordings & Videos Sale serves as a vital fundraiser for SPR stations KPBX, KSFC, and KPBZ, which together, act as the Inland Northwest’s source for NPR, BBC, and local news, an eclectic variety of national and local music programs, and family events that promote the arts in the region.
