Free Concerts for the Whole Family
For over 20 years KPBX Kids' Concerts have been bringing different genres of music and performances to generations of children. These family concerts are at the heart of the station's mission to provide music awareness and entertainment to our listening region, which compliments our on-air programming. Eight free one-hour concerts are held throughout the year at rotating venues. At each concert, attendees may be treated to a mix of music and historical information. Each KPBX Kids' Concert highlights a musical style. Past concerts have featured classical, jazz, big band, folk, bluegrass, latin, calypso, reggae, klezmer, rockabilly, and lots more. ALL KPBX KIDS' CONCERTS ARE FREE.

with Carlos Alden & the Kelly Irish Dancers
Dance a jig or step dance to a Celtic jam produced by Nacho Celtic Hour host and musician Carlos Alden with the Kelly Irish Dancers and Broken Whistle.
The Kelly Irish Dancers began in a family's living room one St. Patrick's Day, as musicians played for their children and grandchildren. Now led by Margaret Evans, the school has delighted audiences both young and old in the greater Spokane area with light-hearted traditional Irish Step Dancing. The school holds its classes in Chattaroy, Washington.
Broken Whistle, a traditional Celtic band, provided the music for the Kelly Irish Dancers' Spring Recital. Since then the band’s passion and skill has grown, and they say they love the liquidity and fiery passion expressed in the variety of Celtic styles. The five members are Chris Reichert (lead vocalist, mandolin), David McGuire (Celtic flute, penny whistle, DADGAD guitar), Kelcey Hanson (fiddle), Ella Wilkinson (fiddle, bass), and Justus Morgan (Bodhrán, vocals).
Kids of all ages are invited to dance, following the Celtic style or inventing a style of your own. Socks or soft slippers are required to dance on the SFCC Gym floor.
