The Mission of Spokane Public Radio
Spokane
Public Radio is a professionally-staffed pair of community licensed stations.
The mission of the non-profit organization is to provide high-quality
artistic, educational, and informational programming, which enhances and
enlivens the cultural life and civic discourse of its listening communities.
The following
fundamental values guide our mission:
- We trust
the ability of our listeners to discern between competing ideas.
- We endeavor
to promote and maintain the highest level of journalistic excellence.
- We actively
participate in the cultural life of our listening communities
Since 1980,
KPBX has greatly enhanced Spokane’s role as a cultural center for our
region.
KPBX has
a weekly audience of over 50,000 listeners who reside in eastern Washington,
northern Idaho, northern Oregon, western Montana, and southern British
Columbia.
KSFC, Spokane's
News and Public Affairs Service, began broadcasting its own separate programming
on July 1, 1999.
KPBX and
KSFC are affiliated with National Public Radio,
Public Radio International, and American Public Media, and offer a rich
variety of exclusive national and local programming — without commercial
interruption or influence.
